HOW SHOULD I STORE MY JEWELRY?

Storage is important. Always store your pieces - gemstones in particular - individually so that they don't rub together, scratch or tangle. Use enclosed pouches to keep your pieces separate. Other tips: - Keep jewelry in a dark, cool and dry place. Sterling silver in particular will naturally oxidise over time when exposed to air, and eventually tarnish, and the best prevention for this is to store it in a sealed bag or airtight box when not being worn. We recommend occasional cleaning of your silver jewelry to maintain shine and keep oxidation at bay. - Don't place jewelry in direct sunlight as prolonged exposure can cause gemstones to fade and lose their colour. - Keep creams and sprays well away from your jewelry pieces as they are particularly susceptible to damage from the effects of chemicals in perfume, hairspray, make-up, nail polish remover, body oils, sunscreen and deodorant. - If you live in a humid climate, always store your jewelry with the enclosed packet of desiccant crystals to help avoid any tarnishing. - Keep chains fastened at the clasp to avoid tangling.

HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY JEWELRY?

Clean your jewelry carefully with a soft, non-abrasive and lint-free cloth or chamois. Doing this occasionally will help to maintain or bring back its shine. If necessary, you can use a mild washing up liquid with warm water and a soft toothbrush, then rinse with clean water and pat dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using ‘dip’ polish or abrasive jewelry cleaners as these contain harsh chemicals and can destroy your jewelry over time.

HOW CAN I PROTECT MY JEWELRY WHILE I'M WEARING IT?

We don't recommend swimming or showering while wearing your jewelry, and removing rings when washing hands. Chlorine, salt water and fresh water can all damage precious metals and gemstones by dulling or eroding them. Gold and silver plated pieces are particularly susceptible to damage from chlorine, which can permanently damage or discolour them. Soapy water when bathing and showering can also leave a thin film, which makes the metal seem dull. Some stones such as lapis lazuli can also be quite porous and shouldn’t be left immersed in water for too long. Liquids and oils can seep into the gems through the tiny cracks between the crystals, causing permanent discolouration and damage. Because of this we also don't recommend wearing porous gems to a beach or hot climates.

CAN I CLEAN ENAMEL JEWELRY?

You can clean your enamel jewelry pieces with warm water, a mild liquid soap and a soft cloth, if the colour is starting to look a little dull. As with other jewelry, make sure to store in a cool, dry and dark place to prevent damage and keep enamel away from harsh chemicals, perfumes, detergents and chlorine.

WHAT IS 18CT GOLD PLATED

We use gold plated brass metal with a layer of 18ct gold in 2 micron thickness to craft the majority of our statement jewelry. A layer of anti-tarnish is added on top for good measure. The reason we use gold plating instead of gold vermeil for our bigger and bolder jewelry is mainly down to affordability - gold plating allows us to keep prices of these pieces at an affordable level, whereas using gold vermeil would make them much more expensive. Gold plated pieces are still incredibly durable - plated with exactly the same process as our gold vermeil pieces, just with slightly thinner layer of gold added to brass instead of sterling silver.

WHAT IS STERLING SILVER PLATED

Some of our silver jewelry is plated with sterling silver on brass, and this is what differentiates it from our rhodium plated sterling silver pieces. These pieces have a layer of anti-tarnish added on top and are still incredibly durable as they're plated with exactly the same process as our sterling silver pieces (but not marked with the '925' stamp as they are not 92.5% pure silver).

WHAT IS CUBIC ZIRCONIA OR CZ

We use cubic zirconia stones in some of our jewellery for the lustre they give without the pricetag of diamonds. They're a durable and affordable alternative to the diamond look and bring a beautiful shine to more delicate pieces.
